The Opposite of Communism - Part 2 of 2

Chapter 2 of "The Communist Manifesto" is only 16 pages long. With just 9 quotes from these pages we can reveal the ideas that are the basis of the horrors of communism. And by taking their opposite, we can reveal important truths for a Free and Just society.

In order, let's begin.

- - - - - - -

In this sense, the theory of the Communists may be summed up in the single phrase: Abolition of private property.

- - - - - - -

That makes the matter rather simple. Either you are for the "Abolition of private property." Or, you are for the Protection of private property.

- - - - - - -

In one word, you reproach us with intending to do away with your property. Precisely so; that is just what we intend.

- - - - - - -

At least Marx was plain. Others are not so forthright in stating that doing "away with your property" is what they stand for.

- - - - - - -

Abolition of the family! Even the most radical flare up at this infamous proposal of the Communists.

- - - - - - -

Attacks on the traditional institution of the family are not accidental. Systematic government plans to destabilize the family structure have a purpose. It's not even considered radical anymore. Marxism has made progress on that front. The opposite of communism is to be for the family.

- - - - - - -

The Communists are further reproached with desiring to abolish countries and nationality.

- - - - - - -

Tearing down your own country and nationality is an important step in communism. Do the opposite.

- - - - - - -

There are, besides, eternal truths, such as Freedom, Justice, etc., that are common to all states of society. But communism abolishes eternal truths, it abolishes all religion, and all morality, instead of constituting them on a new basis; it therefore acts in contradiction to all past historical experience.

- - - - - - -

To fight communism use past historical experience to promote morality and protect religious freedom, and seek eternal truths such as Justice and Freedom.

- - - - - - -

The communist revolution is the most radical rupture with traditional property relations; no wonder that its development involves the most radical rupture with traditional ideas.

- - - - - - -

Seek the truth in traditional ideas and grab hold of traditional property relations.

- - - - - - -

The proletariat will use its political supremacy to wrest, by degrees, all capital from the bourgeoisie, to centralize all instruments of production in the hands of the state, i.e., of the proletariat organized as the ruling class; and to increase the total of productive forces as rapidly as possible.

- - - - - - -

Don't rob money from people. Decentralize all instruments of production in the hands of individuals. Karl Marx based his economics on the labor theory of capital. That theory is wrong. In his view the only way to "increase the total of productive forces as rapidly as possible" was to force more people to work longer and harder. Don't do that. Be the opposite of communist and let people choose.

- - - - - - -

Of course, in the beginning, this cannot be effected except by means of despotic inroads on the rights of property, and on the conditions of bourgeois production; by means of measures, therefore, which appear economically insufficient and untenable, but which, in the course of the movement, outstrip themselves, necessitate further inroads upon the old social order, and are unavoidable as a means of entirely revolutionizing the mode of production.

- - - - - - -

Look at the genius of this destructive system! The communists violate property rights and disturb production. They know this will hurt the economy. And they know that they can then use that instability and people's fear and confusion to make "further inroads" in pulling down more of the society. They offer the problem as the solution, things get worse, rinse and repeat. Don't use "means of despotic inroads on the rights of property" and you stop the entire process. You save the economy and you save society. Do that instead.

- - - - - - -

In short, the Communists everywhere support every revolutionary movement against the existing social and political order of things.
In all these movements they bring to the front, as the leading question in each, the property question, no matter what its degree of development at the time.
Finally, they labor everywhere for the union and agreement of the democratic parties of all countries.

- - - - - - -

Don't support the tearing down of society, don't attack property, and don't undermine the independence of sovereign countries.

Marx and Engels made the communist agenda clear: abolish private property, abolish the family, abolish religion, and abolish independent nations.

That also makes the opposite of communism clear: protect private property, protect the family, protect freedom of religion, and protect the independence of your nation.

Some people claim that socialism is different than communism. No matter what name these ideas are promoted under, make no mistake, they are communism. As Friedrich Engels pointed out in the Preface to the German Edition of 1890.

- - - - - - -

Yet by 1887 Continental socialism was almost exclusively the theory heralded in the Manifesto.

- - - - - - -

Communism is responsible for some of the greatest atrocities in human history. This is where it comes from. These are its ideas. The purpose is to bring about the destruction of society, as they clearly say. By doing the opposite we not only protect society, we build it. Make the choice to protect society. Make the choice to build society. Make the choice to do the opposite of communism.
